The project “Digital Design of Leipzig’s Urban Space” (diGuRaL), funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV), aims to bring together, process and harmonise existing and new data on stationary and flowing traffic to enable intelligent traffic management and data-based innovations.

To this end, the six project partners, consisting of Aufbauwerk, the Digital City Department of the City of Leipzig, City Cleaning Department Leipzig, the University of Leipzig and the companies CCC GmbH and Cyface GmbH, will research, test and develop various methods for recording road space. The focus is on equipping the city cleaning vehicles with sensor technology and the associated continuous data collection.

diGuRaL is associated with high hopes that digitalisation will offer opportunities for better use and planning of road space. In this way, data-based innovations can be promoted and contributions made to climate change and the mobility transition.

The project will start in January 2023 and run for three years.
